Amazon Japan’s investment in 2023 will exceed 1.3 trillion yen

Amazon Japan (headquartered in Meguro-ku, Tokyo) announced on the 5th that the company’s total investment in the Japanese market in 2023 will exceed 1.3 trillion yen. Compared with the investment scale of more than 1.2 trillion yen in 2022, it has increased by about 10% year-on-year. This investment will mainly be used to expand logistics distribution network facilities and increase the infrastructure construction of cloud computing data centers.

It is understood that the logistics sector accounts for the majority of the investment. In 2023, the company built two large-scale warehousing facilities (fulfillment centers) and added 11 transit and distribution sites for parcel sorting. The commissioning of these new facilities has significantly expanded the coverage of next-day delivery services and unmanned delivery services.

In an interview with Nikkei and other media on the same day, Jasper Chan, president of Amazon Japan, said: “Our users have been seeking a more convenient shopping experience and faster and more satisfactory delivery services. Therefore, we will continue to increase our investment in the logistics network.”
