Suzuki Motor Corporation recently announced that the cumulative production of its Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki’s production base in Manesar has exceeded the 10 million vehicle mark. The plant has achieved this feat in just 18 years since it was put into operation in October 2006, setting a record for the fastest among Suzuki’s global four-wheel vehicle production bases. It is worth mentioning that the plant will increase its annual production capacity by 100,000 vehicles in April 2024, bringing the total production capacity to 900,000 vehicles. At present, Maruti Suzuki’s overall annual production capacity has reached 2.35 million vehicles, and its cumulative historical production has exceeded 31.1 million vehicles.
The Manesar plant covers an area of about 2.4 million square meters and mainly produces a number of popular models, including Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Wagon R and Espresso. In addition to serving the local Indian market, the factory’s products are also exported to Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. It is particularly worth mentioning that the plant is also responsible for the production of Maruti’s first sedan model Baleno exported to Japan.
Maruti Suzuki President Toshiyuki Takeuchi expressed his sincere gratitude for the support of customers, the dedication of employees, the cooperation of suppliers and the help of the Indian government. He emphasized: “This achievement fully demonstrates our firm commitment to the national strategy of ‘Make in India’. We will continue to contribute to building an independent automobile industry with international competitiveness.”
